My first month at Hello Future has been really enjoyable and no two days have been the same!
In all honesty, I was quite nervous about starting the role as it was something that I had never done before. Thankfully, I was given a lot of training, and I was also able to observe several workshops and assemblies before running sessions on my own.
I have already started delivering several workshops including interview techniques, progression routes and aptitude test workshops for students considering the apprenticeship route. I liked that I was able to start delivering workshops independently fairly early on as it was a great opportunity for me to learn on the job, to learn by doing, and I can confidently say that I have already developed a lot of skills through it.
I have also had the opportunity to travel all over Cumbria, which is something that I was really looking forward to! Even though I have only been working here for just over a month, I have travelled to West Cumbria, Carlisle and even Ambleside to deliver workshops and attend training days, which has been fantastic.
Getting to organise and be involved in trips has also been so much fun. The trips weren’t something I had expected to be a part of my day-to-day activities, but I have really enjoyed getting involved and I look forward to going on some of these trips with the students this year! This past week I took a group of students from a local school here in the Furness area on a short trip and it was wonderful. 😊
Today I was informed about a new project that Hello Future are starting and it sounds amazing. I am really excited about getting involved in the project and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes in 2024.
There is so much more for me to learn and get involved with this year and so I am excited to get started with it all. There will definitely be more blog posts from me in regard to my time at Hello Future and the exciting things I get up to, so feel free to check back in on this page from time to time to see what we have planned.
